The beautiful bird and the Siraya language have both come back!

Return Our Beautiful Pheasant takes the ring-necked pheasant as its symbol, responding to its changing fortunes on the Chianan Plain — once common, then gone, now reappearing in Taikang — a reminder that land and habitat can be restored. Its return echoes the official recognition of Siraya as an Indigenous people and the revitalization of the Siraya language: the ecologies, peoples and cultures that once faded from view are slowly coming back. The work also echoes the motifs of traditional Siraya embroidery, connecting the observations of earlier generations with the ecological landscape of today. Through a semi-architectural space open to visitors, the viewer moves from bystander to part of the beautiful landscape itself, inviting us to imagine together a "beautiful landscape" that belongs to Taikang.
